"Battlefield: Love"

When I first started this project I had a feeling that what I personally went through would help me create this photo montage so a messy break up is what got the creative juices flowing. The sketching was very challenging for me because I do not pride myself with my artist at all but I did what I could and somehow ideas were rushing out of me. Here is a little personal background in connection to my image so I almost made two years with my boyfriend but he ended up cheating on me. I created this image to represent what has been going through my head when this happened to me two months ago. I am from New York so I decided to use the main background the city sunset skyline and the main focus of love being the constant a constant battlefield. I wanted a sunset scene to show rebirth or even the end of a chapter there is a song by the band Maroon 5 called “Payphone” and a lyric from that song stuck in my head when I was coming up with ideas “Even the sun sets on paradise” I thought to myself that is brilliant! I used medieval themes like the floating castle and the cupids shooting arrows to connect to the battle aspect. At the center of the image are two boxing gloves that create the shape of a heart which is battered and bruised which symbolizes the constant fights love can present in life. The arrows being shot from one direct from the cupids represent love versus the flying heart balloons representing the loss of love on the other side of the city skyline. Overall I can personally connect with this image because it comes from a very person and still wounded side of me which I hope others can recognize or even identify with. There is so much therapy in creating something you do not really want to face but this project helped me express my pain and my moving on from this horrible situation.
