Home page and navigation project sketches

Outer space and technology are the focus and muse for my project sketches due to my fascination with sci-fi and anything outer space related because it ties into technology so well. The first sketch idea I created was one that would be a solar system map like layout and highlighting each navigational portal as a moon or a planet. My second proposed idea is one of a space station's control module one that would be used in a fictional space station or space craft which is something that would tie technology and outer space perfectly. Overall I plan to make my website design simple yet visually appealing so that the user can find it an ease and pleasure to uncover what my website has to offer.

Module 5 Fantasy Avatar Part 1

The first two photos are the inspiration for my fantasy avatar which is a science fiction and futuristic feel. With this theme I accompanied the photos from a NYC photographer Chantar and a photo of Star Wars character Darth Maul. The next photo is of myself and then the next photos are my sketches one of myself drawn comparison and another is my fantasy face. Enjoy!!!!

Works Cited and Image URLS Used In Book Cover Project

Legendary performer Nina Simone sang a mix of jazz, blues and folk music in the 1950s and '60s, later enjoying a career resurgence in the '80s. A staunch Civil Rights activist, she was known for tunes like "Mississippi Goddam," "Young, Gifted and Black" and "Four Women," among many others.

Book Cover Design: Nina Simone

My book design is on Nina Simone a name that recently I heard a lot of from her acclaimed documentary to her influential music. I felt compelled to create my book cover based on this artist because of her popularity and how much she is still a notable artist to this day. I already recognized a couple of her songs without even realizing it. I created connection to this project and my personal curiosity of why Nina Simone? What has made her so famous? and why does her name live on to this day? questions that I answered and took away so much more.

No Party Without A Hat...

I came up with this idea when I spoke to my close friend about my upcoming project and how I am interested in making it about sexual health. My friend joked and told me that while it comes to him "There is never a party without a hat" referring to condom use for sexual activity which is how I came up with this alluring title. Sexual health is a taboo topic for many people which is absurd due to the high infection rates of STDs in the United States and all over the world it is something that everyone should be informed about. I used sketches to focus more on the messages versus the images of models because I wanted the the words to impact the audience. I played with the topic of a party being sex and the hat being a condom or protection/information which covers using a party cake covering the sketch of the body's genitals. The bottom half of the image is where I tie the entire purpose of the piece by using another sketch and writing a mock scripture of rules that people should create when it comes to what they allow to do sexually with their bodies. The use of color is very important in my piece also because it highlights and plays with the messages I am expressing in my image a party being colorful and happy and the rules that you set being stern and serious with black and red wording. Hope you enjoy my poster and truly take away the seriousness of sexual health in the world and  how many countries are in a state of crisis when it comes to sexual awareness issues.

Awareness Sketches

These sketches represent the vision I am focusing on which is sexual health and the importance of being educated and protected engaging in sexual behavior. The assortment of images all have taglines that people commonly use when giving advice or to inform the importance of sexual health. "No party without a hat" alluding to condom use or "True love is wearing this" indicating a condom. which are examples of creative ways a message can be delivered to the public in a way that it sparks conversations which lead to the goal of awareness.

"Battlefield: Love"

When I first started this project I had a feeling that what I personally went through would help me create this photo montage so a messy break up is what got the creative juices flowing. The sketching was very challenging for me because I do not pride myself with my artist at all but I did what I could and somehow ideas were rushing out of me. Here is a little personal background in connection to my image so I almost made two years with my boyfriend but he ended up cheating on me. I created this image to represent what has been going through my head when this happened to me two months ago. I am from New York so I decided to use the main background the city sunset skyline and the main focus of love being the constant a constant battlefield. I wanted a sunset scene to show rebirth or even the end of a chapter there is a song by the band Maroon 5 called “Payphone” and a lyric from that song stuck in my head when I was coming up with ideas “Even the sun sets on paradise” I thought to myself that is brilliant! I used medieval themes like the floating castle and the cupids shooting arrows to connect to the battle aspect. At the center of the image are two boxing gloves that create the shape of a heart which is battered and bruised which symbolizes the constant fights love can present in life. The arrows being shot from one direct from the cupids represent love versus the flying heart balloons representing the loss of love on the other side of the city skyline. Overall I can personally connect with this image because it comes from a very person and still wounded side of me which I hope others can recognize or even identify with. There is so much therapy in creating something you do not really want to face but this project helped me express my pain and my moving on from this horrible situation.
